When I want to say something with reference to my brain, I always think in the plural.
My brains took a walk.
My brains are fried.
I need a new set of brains.
Why do we tend to do this? Is it because:
a) Human beings are arrogant.
b) I really do need brain in the plural.
c) Every other (outer) part of the body comes in pairs. (Even the nose, which is collective noun forĀ a pair of nostrils.)
d) One is always in need of more closet space.
Anyone?

Left hand side of the brain + right hand side of the brain + frontal lobe = one brain.
See? Collective noun again, but can also be referred to in the plural!
Extra closet space always being made as old things are forgotten to be replaced by new ones…
Aha, I see, I see
My brains nod in agreement, too.
There once was a brain of high stature
Except for his lascivious nature
But on seeing an alphabet so demure
That the beginning and end of shyness she did conjure
His errant ways he decided to shed
But a bad reputation is difficult to mend
No matter how hard he tried
The elders in her family cried
To avoid an unspeakable catastrophe
The two of you must always be separated by an apostrophe
To the sorceress CW he ran
Begged her to convince his true love’s clan
The sorceress heard his plea
And finally made the alphabets agree
So the two were joined in holy matrimony
And one brain blissfully led to many
Goodness gracious, PV! To think *I* inspired this– thank you! And that is the story of my life (right down to the elders crying)!
To PV
Who made me
Cause of envy
With wit and words
(That are hard
To match up to)
I offer thee
A lychee martini
And hope
You’ll get drunk enough
To write me
Such brilliant lines
For every post?
escoos me, women? do you want people to comment or simply run away after seeing such witty comments?
My 0.25 cent : I do that too, and I think it’s because I have multiple personality disorder. And because I associate a personality to a brain, there are as many brains as there are personalities.
